I love really simple, tasty food. This is one of my favorites- thinly sliced apples dipped in tempered chocolate.

You have to temper some chocolate to make these. If you have never tempered chocolate let me assure you that it’s not hard at all! Just give it a try.
Ingredients
- 1lb Semisweet Baking Chocolate
- 1 or 2 Apples
Directions
- Temper 1lb of chocolate. It is easier to temper large amounts of chocolate so just save the leftovers for something else.
- Using a mandolin, food processor w/ a slicing attachment, or a knife and your own hands, cut the apple into thin pieces.
- Dip the apple slices into the chocolate. Shake the apple a bit to get the excess chocolate off.
- Put the apple slice on a towel or drying rack to let the chocolate harden.
Marshall was too busy hunting a mouse in our apartment to hang out with me. =(
Oh, and I just want to mention that my boyfriend (Roy Rogers -yeah that’s his real name) is amazing and super supportive. Seriously guys, he does all the dishes that I use for these posts and puts up with the massive amounts of food photography props I am accumulating in our very small NYC apartment. <3

vkrees - They are the best, aren’t they? =)
Denise - That is so lovely! I dip anything in tempered chocolate. Pears, peaches, oranges etc and sometimes sprinkle on some cinnamon or cayenne pepper to give it a good kick!
Love your blog! Going onto my list of favourites (:
Cara - Hey, I too have one of those assistant/cleaner-ups I like to call my “boyfriend” :) hehe. They really ARE good sports, aren’t they? And 10 points goes to you for scoring a dude whose name is freaking Roy Rogers! That is THE best name. Ever. You win. Or Roy does… Regardless, what a sweetie! xox
Jes - I can’t believe I’ve never thought of dipping apple slices in tempered chocolate–it’s genius!!
And hooray for awesome boyfriends who put up with massive amounts of props & who help clean up! I haven’t been able to break out my props for months now while we’ve been in in-between-house-limbo, but when we move in next month, I’m setting up a real studio space and getting back to business; can’t wait to collect more and actually use them!
